BIMI & VMC (Brand Indicators)
BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) is an email standard that enables DMARC-authenticated senders to display their official verified brand logo directly next to incoming messages in Gmail, Apple Mail, and Yahoo inboxes.
Extended Definition
BIMI builds on strict DMARC enforcement (p=quarantine or p=reject). To prevent trademark spoofing, major mailbox providers like Google require a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) issued by an authorized certificate authority (DigiCert, Entrust) confirming registered trademark ownership of the logo. Once published via a DNS TXT record, supporting email clients display the brand logo and a verified blue checkmark next to the sender name.
How It Works
CapEngage validates that your domain has 100% DMARC enforcement alignment, formats your SVG Tiny PS logo specification, hosts the asset, and helps you configure the `default._bimi.yourdomain.com` DNS TXT record pointing to the logo and VMC certificate PEM file.
Why It Matters for Enterprise Teams
Increases email open rates by up to 21%, provides instant visual fraud protection against phishing impersonation, and maximizes brand impressions directly inside the inbox.
Autonomous Execution in CapEngage
CapEngage Deliverability Shield includes built-in BIMI compliance validation, helping enterprise senders achieve VMC verification and verified inbox checkmarks.
